Evelyn Mitchell Roberts

A Celebration of Life for Evelyn Mitchell Roberts, 87, will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Broadmoor Baptist Church, 4110 Youree Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Dr. Larry Williams. Evelyn was born on February 6, 1934 in Albion, Texas to Huey and Gladys Mitchell and passed away Friday, October 1, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. A homemaker and later an employee of Berg Mechanical, she retired after 28 years of service. She was best known to all as Ms. Evelyn and will be remembered for her pineapple cookies and her infectious laugh. She was a faithful member of Broadmoor Baptist Church, the Alexander Sunday school class and Circle of Love. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lonnie Roberts; sisters, Lucille McDonald, Pauline Gist and Adeline Mitchell and brothers, Bernard Mitchell, Isaac Mitchell and Bob Mitchell. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Renee Petree and husband, Mike, Donna Rutch and husband, John and brother, Huey B. Mitchell, Jr. and wife, Sue. Affectionately known as "Meme", she is survived by grandchildren, Tara Pickard and husband, Joe, Carson Petree and wife, Kieffer, Brad Petree and wife, Ashley, Spencer Petree and wife, Leigh Ann, and John Peter Rutch; great-grandchildren, Will Pickard, Joshua Pickard, Ethan Pickard, Camille Petree, Jackson Petree, Molly Ann Petree and Mabry Petree and many nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Broadmoor Baptist Church, 4110 Youree Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana 71105. The family wishes to express special thanks to cousin, Rhonda, for her love, compassion and support.
