Evelyn Adams

Evelyn Pyle Adams peacefully transitioned to Heaven on March 22, 2022 surrounded by her family. She will be remembered by those who love her as an avid reader, committed educator, talented seamstress, the matriarch of the family, and most importantly, a follower of Jesus. A service honoring her life will be officiated by Rev. John Henson at Church for the Highlands at 520 Olive Street in Shreveport, Louisiana on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. Burial service will follow at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery at 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath South Funeral Home at 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana. She was born in Logansport, Louisiana on April 7, 1933. She graduated from Fair Park High School in 1950, and received her bachelor's degree from Northwestern State University in 1953. During the 57 years she taught for Caddo Parish, she also obtained her Master's Degree in Education plus 30 hours and her reading specialist certificate. She taught school, served as a curriculum coordinator, and taught classes at Centenary. She particularly seemed to have a passion for teaching adult education, and helping her students pass the GED test. Some of her proudest moments in education include being awarded the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching and being inducted into the Northwestern Hall of Distinguished Educators. Evelyn loved living, loved people, and dedicated any spare time to her community. She loved bringing family and friends together for a meal. She was a faithful member of Church for the Highlands for many years. She had a heart for service and loved serving her community with her church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Frankie Pyle; her brother, Waymon Pyle (Gloria), and her sister, Mary Helen Whiteard (Dub). She is survived by her sons, Michael Adams and wife, Aysegul, Russell Adams and wife, Beth; her granddaughters, Laura Hinze and husband, Levi, Leah Isaacs and husband, Scott, and Ella Grace Williams; her great-grandchildren, Scotty, Matthew, and Charlotte Isaacs, Daniel and Luke Hinze; and several beloved nephews and nieces. Honoring Evelyn as pallbearers will be family members Jackie Adams, Greg Whiteard, Billy Whiteard, Bruce Williams, Levi Hinze, Scott Isaacs, and Wayne Johnson. The family is so thankful for the care she received from Dr. Zabaneh, Dr. Liu, Dr. Ryan Bicknell, and nurses Marticia and Stephanie. In lieu of flowers, Evelyn would be pleased for donations to be made to Church for the Highlands.
