Eva Nell Kilpatrick Sims went home to her Heavenly Father on September 19, 2024. She was born to Lucille Atkins and Gordon Kilpatrick in Athens, Louisiana on December 31, 1923. Eva Nell was married to Alfred Houston Sims, Jr. who preceded her in death. They raised their family in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Ronnie Sims and wife, Rachel, along with daughter, Linda Hicks and husband, Blu, who reside in Texas. Eva Nell spent her last years in Texas near her children.
During her lifetime, she enjoyed quilting, flower gardening, and playing canasta with friends. Her church family at Christ United Methodist Church was very important to her.
Eva Nell leaves behind four grandchildren, David Sims and wife, Valeria, Angela Salinas and husband, Robert, Matthew Hicks and wife, Danielle, and Amanda Bookout and husband, Clint. She was blessed with 12 great-grandchildren: Andrew Hilger, Jacob Hilger, Alex Hilger, Austin Hilger, Emily Hilger, Isabelle Sims, Cruz Salinas, Carlo Salinas, Ella Salinas, Tilly Hicks, Adeline Hicks, and Lydia Hicks. Eva Nell enjoyed spending holidays and celebrating special events with all of her family, especially her 100th birthday!
A celebration of Eva Nell’s life will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr. in Shreveport on Sunday, September 22, 2024. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:30 p.m. followed by burial in Arcadia Cemetery in Arcadia, Louisiana.
Honorary pallbearers include David Sims, Andrew Hilger, Jacob Hilger, Alex Hilger, Austin Hilger, Cruz Salinas and Carlo Salinas.
Eva Nell loved her church. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 1204 Crabapple Dr., Shreveport, LA 71118. The family extends appreciation to the River Hills Healthcare Rehab in Kerrville, Texas for their love and care of Eva Nell Kilpatrick Sims.
