Eva (Eve) Scherba Littlefield

Eva (Eve) Scherba Littlefield, born in Douglasville, PA, on May 2, 1925, to Michael and Annie Scherba, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel on Marshall Street from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Throughout her life, Eve was an adventuresome spirit always ready to take on new experiences and challenges. She received excellent academic awards throughout her early education at Berks County Elementary and Pottstown High School, where she graduated in 1943. In 1946, she graduated from the Reading Hospital School of Nursing, affiliated with Albright University, with her RN degree. After this achievement, she relocated to Berkeley, CA, where she was a student at the University of California and worked as a nurse at Cowell Memorial Hospital, the university’s medical facility. There she met and married Joseph Leonard Littlefield in November of 1949. Together they studied Japanese language, learned to speak, read, and write Japanese, and then moved to Japan in 1951. They lived in the country for seven years and during this time had two sons, Theron Ranlett Littlefield and Michael Gallatin Littlefield. They returned to the United States in 1958 and lived briefly in Idaho, where their daughter Lisa Janine Littlefield was born. The family lived in Germany for three years and then returned to California before moving to Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1966. Six years later, career advancement took the family to Belleville, Illinois, but considering Shreveport home, Eve and Joe returned to Louisiana in 1982 to retire. Eve taught communications and medical courses at the Ayers School of Business for a time and enjoyed playing golf, taking music lessons, and spending time with family and friends.

Eve was an avid traveler, and one of the highlights of her life was touring Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Saigon, the Philippines, Okinawa, Singapore, and Malaysia. She also studied German while living in Europe and traveled to Spain, France, Switzerland, England, Belgium, Holland, Luxemburg, Italy, and Majorca. A lifelong learner, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in social psychology from Park College, MO in 1976. She was an avid musician and was an accomplished clarinet player in her high school marching band, learned to play the Koto while living in Japan, and took piano lessons with friends in Shreveport.

Eve was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Littlefield, and son, Theron Littlefield. She is survived by her son, Michael Littlefield; daughter, Lisa Littlefield; son-in-law, David Tulis; granddaughters, Denver Marie Littlefield, Lea Eve Littlefield, and Lauren Elena Tulis.
