In Loving Memory of Eunice Elaine Burns

August 27, 1943 – October 1, 2026

Eunice Elaine Burns, 83, of Minden, Louisiana, went to be with Jesus on October 1, 2026, with her children by her side.

Born and raised in Minden, Elaine spent her life in the community she called home. She was the youngest child of John McKinley Melton and Attice White Melton.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Kerry O. Burns; her parents, John and Attice Melton (Ma & Pa); siblings, Nedra Barnidge, Lewis Melton, J.E. Melton, Lucille Parnell, Charlene Wade, Joye Neal, Lola Fisher, Jan Shoemaker and Johnny Melton.

Elaine is survived by her daughter, Melissa Griffith and her husband, Mark; her son, Al Blount and wife, Susan; her brother, Gerald Melton, and his wife, Nancy; five grandchildren, Timothy Griffith (Haley), Luke Griffith (Molly), Gracen Blount, Sydney Blount Smith (Bret), and Addison Blount; four great-grandchildren, Nora Griffith, Tripp Griffith, Wade Griffith, and Whitley Griffith; and numerous cherished nieces and nephews.

Elaine was an active and devoted member of the body of Christ. She unapologetically shared her faith, her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and her love for Israel and the Jewish people. Studying the Bible and listening to her favorite preachers were her among her favorite past times when she wasn’t spending time with family and friends. If you casually asked how she was doing, her reply was almost always, “Contagiously blessed and highly favored of the Lord!”

She was very present and intentional with her relationships with her children and grandchildren, and loved watching her great-grandchildren play. Reminiscing about growing up in a large family (in a small house) with her siblings, and sharing those times with her precious nieces and nephews, were some of her favorite childhood memories.

Spending time with her sweet friends, gardening, and being surrounded by the people she loved were sources of happiness. The love she had for her family will remain one of her greatest legacies.

“The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you His SHALOM.” — Numbers 6:24-26

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
