Ethel "Nita" Strickland

Funeral arrangements for Ethel “Nita” Strickland will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025, located at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, LA 71118 with Tammy Lofton to officiate. Burial will be held at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd, Shreveport, LA 71109. A visitation will be held prior at 12:00 p.m. Honoring Ethel as pallbearers will be Curt Fast, Jimmy Davis, Jr., Todd Davis, Ronnie Davis, Jon Richard, and Tyron Hardin.

Ethel was born on July 6, 1944, to Martie "Jim" Davis and Bessie Taravella Davis in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed away unexpectedly on July 20, 2025.

Ethel was a lifelong resident of Louisiana. She loved the Lord and attended Shreveport Church of God when she was a young girl and Southpark Church of God when she was older. She loved going to movies and the Louisiana Hayride with her siblings.

Ethel and Allen wed on September 14, 1962, and had 3 children. She loved being with her family going to the lake, cooking, watching motorcycle and car racing, and gardening with Allen. She was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Strickland; parents, Jim and Bessie Davis; sister, Virginia Branch; father-in-law, Allen Austin Strickland and mother-in-law, Ida Williams.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Marvin Strickland and wife Rhonda, Tammy Fast and husband Curt, and Mark Strickland and wife Sara; grandchildren, Lee Fast and wife Cierra, Brooke Dunkelberger and husband Wyatt, Cameron Voshage and wife Bianca; Candace Strickland and Emily Carter; along with 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Jimmy Davis and wife Nancy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
