Emmie Sue Ellisor, 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Montclair Park Elder Care.
Emmie Sue was born on March 10, 1935, in Abbeville, AL. She graduated from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL, with a B.A. in Education and Music. A local legend, she taught preschool and led the music program at St. Paul’s Episcopal Day School in Shreveport for over 40 years. Emmie Sue was a devoted member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Choir, as well as the choir of every church she belonged to over the years.
A lifelong lover of music, Emmie Sue found her greatest joy seated at the piano, where her fingers danced across the keys and her heart poured out in every note. Whether playing hymns, classical pieces, or her favorite sing-alongs, her music was the soundtrack to countless cherished moments with family and friends. She didn’t just play the piano—she made it come alive.
From the moment she walked into a room, Emmie Sue had a way of lighting it up—with her infectious laughter, dazzling smile, and an energy that made everyone feel welcome and seen. She was truly one of a kind: a straight shooter (there was never any doubt where she stood), vibrant, witty, and full of life. Her presence was magnetic; her spirit unforgettable.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, whose charisma and zest for life touched everyone she met. Grounded in her faith, she lived boldly and always found a reason to laugh.
Emmie Sue is survived by her son, Jackson Ellisor; her daughters, Elizabeth Ellisor Bolton and Suzanne Ellisor Menasco; her grandchildren, Lauren Baudoin Lee (Clint), Zach Baudoin (Michelle), Sophia Manon Ellisor, Brooks Ellisor, Alex Menasco, and Josh Menasco; and her great-grandchildren, Taylor Jane Lee, Kellen Lee, Easton Baudoin, Camryn Lee, Owen Baudoin, Aria Ellisor, Alaina Ellisor, and Rhett Baudoin. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James “Jim” Ellisor.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at Montclair Park and Nightingale Hospice for their exceptional care and kindness.
Her life will be celebrated at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 275 Southfield Rd., Shreveport, LA 71105. Services will be announced at a later time. A reception will follow in the church parlor, where we will share “Emmie Sue” stories, music, and memories that capture her beautiful spirit. Laughter is required.
In honor of Emmie Sue’s love of music, the family welcomes donations to the Organ Restoration Fund at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Shreveport, LA, in lieu of flowers.
