Elsie Day

SHREVEPORT, LA - Services Celebrating the life of Elsie Day, 82, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2018, at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Chapel, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Dr. Robert Finley. Burial will follow at Whitehall Cemetery, Dykesville, LA. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. prior to the service Friday, at the funeral home. Elsie was born April 28, 1936, in Minden, LA to Mary Eloise Rushing Tinsley and Audry Lee Tinsley and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 24, 2018, in Shreveport, LA. She was a china painter for many years, loved antiques, collecting dolls, enjoyed her cookbooks and sharing recipes, and loved to shop. She was a longtime member of the DAR. Elsie enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren that affectionately called her "Nana." She will be greatly missed. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Edward R. Day. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mike Day and wife Linda of Shreveport, LA, Karen Rice and husband Dennis of Shreveport, LA, and Steven Day and wife Lesley of Brandon, MS; grandchildren, Katie Day, Lauren Day, Matthew Day, McKenzie Day, Stephen Rice and Meredith Rice; great-grandchildren, Camille Procell, Harper Procell, Charley Day, Ollie McCutcheon, and Sawyer Day; brother, John Tinsley of California; and uncles, Edwin Rushing of Shreveport, LA, and Ralph Tinsley of Ruston, LA. A special thanks to her caregiver, Nicole Cosby for all the care and support shown to our mother.
