Born on October 6, 1944, in Grenada County, Mississippi, Ella passed away peacefully in her home with her family around her after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the third born to Stanford and Velora Hughes.
She is survived by her brother, James Hughes of Byhalia, Mississippi, and Maria Kilgore of Grenada, Mississippi. She married W.F. Martin, Sr. in 1962 in Center, Texas, and was married until his passing in March of 2018. She is also survived by her children, W.F. Martin, Jr. of Bossier City; daughter, Joan Jackson and husband, Bryan of Benton, Louisiana; grandchildren, April Dinatale and husband, Tommy W.F. Martin, III (Trey) of Bossier City, Dylan Jackson of Benton, Louisiana, Logan Lopez and wife, Rebecca of St. Mary’s Georgia; two great-grandchildren, Rose Martin, and Ronan Richard Lopez, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Throughout the 60 years she and her husband operated their business, Martin’s Auto Electric, Inc., she made many lifelong friends and business associates who never let her forget they enjoyed seeing her at the front counter when they needed something or just stopped by to chat.
She joined Stockwell Road Missionary Baptist Church in Bossier and loved her church friends and family. She loved her Lord and Savior and never missed a chance to witness the love of Jesus and HIS power to heal and save those around her. One of her favorite bible verses was 2nd Corinthians 6:2, “Behold, now is the day of salvation.”
The family suggests memorials may be made as a donation to Stockwell Road Missionary Baptist Church, 2201 Stockwell Rd., Bossier City, Louisiana 71111.
