Elizabeth Gwendolyn Gibson

Funeral services for Elizabeth Gwendolyn Gibson, 85, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at First Baptist Church, Frost Chapel, 543 Ockley Dr, Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until service time. Officiating the service will be Pastor Jeff Raines and Pastor Ronney Joe Webb.

Gwen was born on March 30, 1941 in Vicksburg, Louisiana and passed away Saturday, April 18, 2026 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

With a degree in Education from Northwestern University, Gwen was a lifelong teacher, most recently at Shreve Island Elementary School.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George Hunter Whitehead and Marguerite Byram Whitehead; her ex-husband, Clyde Kendrick Gibson; her son, Ken Gibson, Jr.; and granddaughter, Catherine Gibson.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Clayton Daniel Gibson; daughters-in-law, Kristin Wall and Clenia Espinal Gibson; and her beloved grandsons, Ford Gibson, William Gibson, and Benjamin Gibson; sister, Marcia Haworth; nieces, Katherine Solomon and Cheryl Sullivan; her sister-in-law, Becky Gibson and children Michael, Cynthia, and John Gibson; and many dear cousins. Gwen is also survived by friends including Judy Bridges, Dea Gallien, Harriet Park, Rosey Boardman, and many others, especially among the staff and members of First Baptist Church.
