Funeral Services celebrating the life of Elijah Alan Gillispie, 6, will be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 2, 2021 at First United Pentecostal Church of Bossier City, 2833 Viking Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. Visitation will be held Friday, October 1, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Pastor Jerry Dean. Interment will immediately follow the service at Rose-Neath Cemetery, 5185 Swan Lake Road, Bossier City, Louisiana. Elijah was born to Michael Allen and Christine Ann Gillispie on May 4, 2015 in Bossier City, Louisiana. He was transitioned into the arms of Jesus on Friday, September 24, 2021. Heaven gained the most precious brave warrior and hero who fought Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma or DIPG for a little over two years. Elijah was such a sweet, unselfish and determined young boy. He will be greatly missed, not forgotten, and loved always. Elijah is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ethan and Barbara Gillispie; maternal grandmother, Tammarra Skidmore. Left to cherish his memory are his parents; big brother, Tanner Gillispie; his twin brother, Ethan Gillispie; maternal grandfather Ronald Skidmore and wife, Lila Akin, along with several aunts, uncles and cousins. Honoring Elijah as pallbearers will be Matt Houston, Captain Scott Durfee, Colton Frizzell and Jake Johnson. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Caddo Fire District #1 and the Northwest Louisiana Fire Buffs. The family would like to thank those at Heart of Hospice in Shreveport, Louisiana, St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee and the affiliate site in Shreveport, Louisiana. They would also like to thank the many, many people who generously provided support in so many ways during this journey.
