Eleanor Ruth Pilkinton

A Celebration of Life for Eleanor Ruth Pilkinton, 78, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. A burial will follow at Pilkinton Cemetery, 941 Judy Lane, Benton, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Brother Robert Beadle. Ruth was born February 1, 1943 to Otha and Avris Shepherd in Cotton Valley, Louisiana and passed away Monday, August 23, 2021 in Benton, Louisiana. Ruth was married to her high school sweetheart for 61 years, Lawrence Pilkinton. After working 28 years for the Bossier Parish Clerk of Courts she decided to retire and enjoy spending her time on the farm observing all of God's creations such as her beautiful flowers, the birds and the clouds. Ruth dedicated her life to worshiping the Lord while serving others while singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school. The joy of her life was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joane Rhodes and brother, Ronnie Shepherd. Left to cherish her memories is her husband, Lawrence Pilkinton, Sr.; sons, Mark Pilkinton and Lawrence Pilkinton, Jr. and wife, Kristi; sister, Betty Gay Beaurgard; grandchildren, Josh Pilkinton and wife, Laura, Michael Pilkinton and girlfriend, Caroline, Christiana Lyons and husband, Jeff, Caleb Jones and wife, Stephanie and Cody Jones; great-grandchildren, Presley, Jordyn, Alex, Addison, Annabelle, Melaniah and Vivian and a host of nieces and nephews. Honoring Ruth as pallbearers will be Josh Pilkinton, Michael Pilkinton, Caleb Jones, Cody Jones, Jeff Lyons and Rodney Matlock. The family would like to express special thanks to Nightingale Hospice, to Ruth's wonderful sitters, Denise Allen, Debbie Deloach and Renee Compton and to thank Dr. Kennedy Lim.
