Elba Christine Philan

Funeral services for Elba Christine Philan, 83, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel with Brother Kevin Arinder officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2019 at the funeral home. Elba was born January 19, 1936 in Houston, TX and went to be with the Lord on August 6, 2019. She graduated from C.E. Byrd High School. She was a longtime member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed flowers and gardening. She was a devoted housewife and a loving mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed. Elba was preceded in death by her husband of over 56 years, A.P. Philan; parents, Marvin and Monnie Park; and brothers, Burwin L. Park and Thomas Park. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sherry Hedlund (Richard) and Terry Thomas; son, Richard Philan (Angela); grandchildren Amy Moushon, Amanda Rowell, Ashley Clark, Lane Peeples, and Tanner Philan; and numerous great-grandchildren. Honoring Elba as pallbearers will be Logan Allen, Tanner Philan, Lane Peeples, Marty Park, Jack Michaels IV, and Landon Moushon. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Willis-Knighton Life Care and everyone who came to visit in her time of need.
