Born in Springfield, Missouri, on March 2, 1958, a date proudly shared with Dr. Seuss, Elaine made birthdays an event to remember. Every year, her birthday was celebrated with joy, laughter, and the kind of whimsy that would have made Dr. Seuss himself smile.
She grew up in Christmas, Florida, a place as full of magic as she was. Her life was stitched with love, quite literally. A passionate crafter, she poured her heart into every handmade cross-stitch, holiday decoration, and memory bear she created. Each piece was a reflection of her creativity, patience, and deep love for those around her.
She was known for her beautiful handwriting, so graceful and precise it once earned her a penmanship trophy, a prize she held onto with pride her entire life. Elaine adored the beach, the sun on her face, the sound of the waves, the pelicans flying by; she could easily spend the whole day there, usually with a novel and a Dunkin’ Donuts coffee in hand.
Though fearless in so many ways, Momma had a legendary aversion to frogs, elevators, escalators, and bridges. If you knew her, you’ve probably heard the stories (and maybe even shared a laugh or two about them).
Elaine was one-of-a-kind, a loving mother, a thoughtful friend, and a woman who made the world a little brighter (and more colorful) just by being in it. She leaves behind a legacy of creativity, laughter, warmth, and strength. Her memory will live on in every handwritten note and stitch of fabric.
She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Jobe and Rachelle Robarge; their families, including her grandson, Henry Jobe, as well as her three brothers and sister with their families.
Elaine did not wish to have a formal service, and as she was a passionate advocate for animals, memorial donations may be made to NWLA Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
