Eileene Bogdan

Eileene Mary Easley Bogdan, age 86, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, joined her Heavenly Father at 3:00 a.m. on Friday, September 27, 2024, in her daughter's home, surrounded by her loving family in Allen, Texas.

Born on July 27, 1938, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Eileene was the daughter of Henry Edmond Easley and Louise Adeline Anthamatten Easley. A beacon of love and joy, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert (Bob) Joseph Bogdan, in 1957, and their love story spanned decades—even after Bob’s early death at the age of 40 in 1978. Eileene never remarried, choosing instead to dedicate her life to her six children: Tony, Lisa, Joe, Andy, David, and Phillip.

As a devoted military wife, Eileene embraced the adventure of life with Bob, who served as a C130 Navigator and officer in the United States Air Force. Together, they traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and the world, with memorable chapters in Japan and Turkey that she often cherished and spoke about fondly.

In 1976, they settled down in Shreveport, Louisiana, where they built a loving home for their family. Eileene raised her children in the Catholic Church, instilling in them a deep love for Jesus. She and Bob would attend Mass weekly with their six children, nurturing their faith as a foundation for their lives.

After Bob's passing, Eileene showed incredible strength and resilience, often working three jobs to support her family. Her love for others was evident in her work in the healthcare industry as a nurse's aide, especially in the NICU and with the elderly. Eileene had a remarkable ability to connect with those in need, willing to give the shirt off her back to anyone who required help and never turning a blind eye to her family, friends, or strangers in times of struggle.

Eileene is survived by her beloved children, Tony and his wife Suzanne, Lisa, Joe and his wife Holly, Andy and his wife Lori, David and his wife Denise, and Phillip and his wife Justina; her brother, Edmond Easley and his wife Lorraine; sister-in-law, Peggy Easley; along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She is also lovingly remembered by her 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, all of whom carry her legacy of love and kindness in their hearts.

Eileene had many hobbies that brought her joy, including creating beautiful flower arrangements and playing card games, especially Rummy, where her competitive spirit shone through as she won most of the time—just as recently as a week before her passing. Her mental sharpness remained impressive until the end, reflecting her vibrant spirit.

She was known for her delicious 7-bone pot roast, for which she would travel hundreds of miles to her favorite butcher in Shreveport, Louisiana, to obtain the perfect cut for her family. But most of all, Eileene cherished spending quality time with her loved ones.

A particular highlight of Eileene’s life was bringing her mother into her home and caring for her until her passing at the age of 95. She often spoke of this as the pinnacle of her life, a testament to her deep love for family.
