Edward Hill McCaleb, 95, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 in Bossier City, Louisiana. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Forest Park East Cemetery, 2700 St. Vincent Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana. Visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. on Saturday prior to the graveside service. Officiating the service will be Pastor Harrell Shelton of Airline Baptist Church. Edward Hill McCaleb, born April 25, 1925 to Nell White McCaleb and Arlington Clinton McCaleb in Lewisburg, Tennessee. Edward was one of seven children. Ed joined the Merchant Marines and served in Word War II. In 1947 Edward married Grace Lillian Doremus. They were blessed with their first daughter, Shirley Ann. The family moved from Tennessee to Shreveport, Louisiana where a second daughter, Eleanor (Ellie) Grace was born. Edward was an experienced Welder and Pipe Fitter and retired in 1987. Edward was an avid sportsman and gardener. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trapping. Ed was a past member of the Masons. He was also a past member of Ingleside Baptist Church from 1954 until it closed in 2005. He especially enjoyed providing church-wide fish fries and sharing fresh produce grown in his garden. Upon the closing of Ingleside he moved his membership to Airline Baptist Church, Bossier where he has been a loyal member since 1997. Ed is survived by his two daughters, Shirley McCaleb Lautigar (Ron). Ellie Grace Long Hannigan (Michael); grandchildren, Angie Rotolo (Bryan), Joseph Edward Lautigar (Renee), Jennifer Pihakis (Dino), Staci Nicole Long Reddy (Marshall); and eight great grandchildren, Kaley, Emma, Mitchell, Jody, Lexi, James-Andrew, Beau and Carson. Honoring Edward as pallbearers will be Marshall Reddy, Carson Reddy, Beau Reddy, Ted Lewis, Dino Pihakis, and Ron Lautigar. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to Airline Baptist Church, 4007 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana 71111. The family would like to thank you for sharing in this celebration of Ed McCaleb's life and faith. We are going to miss him so much but are secure in the knowledge that he is now walking with Jesus, fishing with the disciples, and singing as loud as he likes with the Angels. Please continue to pray for us as we morn his passing and may God richly bless each one of you.
