Edna Mae Ponder, 83, passed on from this life on December 28, 2020 in Pasadena, Texas. She was born to parents Marshall Sammie and Lillie Mae (Parks) Gates on October 4, 1937 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Edna loved quilting, and used her hobby to make many quilts for her family. In her working years, she was employed for 20 dedicated years with Russel and Smith Ford. Eventually Edna transitioned to Leonard Automotive where she retired, and many of her coworkers there grew to be like family to her. She was also a member of the Harris County Water and Improvement District No. 84 for a number of years as a director and secretary.
Edna is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Amos "A.L." Lee Ponder, Jr.; and brother, John Audie Gates. She is survived by her children, Joy Ford and husband Allen, and Candy Shadoin; sister, Mildred Pauline McDonald; grandchildren, Kay Ford, Stephanie Ezernack, Sabre Poimboeuf, Elie Poimboeuf II; great-grandchildren, Destiny Ezernack, Natallia Marie Ezernack, Braydon Cole Ezernack, Cameron Gage Ezernack; great-great-grandchild, Silas Ezernack; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Serving the honor of pallbearers will be Bobby Ezernack, Doug Wallis, Joe Shadoin, Bo McDonald, Brayden Ezernack, Cameron Ezernack, and honorary pallbearer, Tommy Bissell.
The family invites you to join them for a visitation on Saturday, January 2, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 943 Polk St, Mansfield, LA 71052. Funeral services officiated by Pastor Rick McDonald will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Graveside services will immediately follow at Spring Ridge Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana where she will be laid to rest under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
