Services for Edith Christine Horn Havens will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Kilpatrick\'s Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 708 Main St., Logansport, Louisiana on Saturday, May 1, 2021, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at O.E. Price Memorial Cemetery in Logansport. Officiating the service will be Brother Dan Lay of Trinity Heights Baptist Church. Edith, known affectionately as Aunt E, Grandmother, Great-Gran and Momma, was born in Logansport, Louisiana on November 16, 1926 to Albert and Evie Horn and died in Shreveport, Louisiana on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. Edith grew up in Logansport and graduated from Logansport High School. After relocating to Shreveport, Edith worked and retired from Commercial National Bank. Once retired, Edith devoted her life to caring for her grandchildren and her hobbies that included sewing, reading, piano playing and gardening. Edith was a devout Christian who was a member of Trinity Heights Baptist Church of Shreveport. Edith was an incredibly selfless, loving matriarch who will be dearly missed by her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Lillian Barry, Oleta Simpson, Vivian Ramsey and Nora Pendergrass. Edith is survived by her daughter, Sylvia H. Shelby of Shreveport, LA; sister, Jackie Brady of Bossier City, LA; grandchildren, Daniel Ethridge and wife, Nicole of Benbrook, TX and Katie Sweeten and husband, Seth, of Shreveport, LA; great-grandson, Cannon Ethridge; great-granddaughter, Rose Sweeten and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Honoring Edith as pallbearers will be Keith Tyer, Bruce Brady, Rodney Ramsey, Seth Sweeten, Curtis Smith and Tommy Williams. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to The Glen, Southern Care and Christus Highland Hospital for their attentive and compassionate care shown to Edith.
