Earnestine Nanas

A Graveside Service for Earnestine Fowler Branch Nanas, 98, will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Ave., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Friday, October 8, 2021 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Officiating the service will be Pastor Danny Nugent. Earnestine was born on May 26, 1923 to Reverend William Russell Fowler and Myrtle Brown Fowler in Merigold, Mississippi and passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, September 30, 2021 in Shreveport. "Pinki," as she was lovingly called by her family and friends, was a resident of Shreveport. She worked and retired from LSU Medical Center after 29 years of service where she was successful in introducing the electroencephalogram (EEG imaging) to hospitals in the area. In her younger years, she volunteered as a Wave in the Navy. She went to New York City to train for her stint in the service when she was discovered by Bill Blass to be one of his models. She enjoyed a successful modeling career before returning home to Shreveport. She received one of her degrees from Centenary College and one from Louisiana State University. She had a radio station in her home for many years called "Fowler Memorial Ministries Inc." where she had a dedicated following. She was a world traveler where she visited many places and made many friends. Pinki is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Richard Louis Branch; her loving husband of 63 years, Arthur Nanas; her son, Richard Louis Branch, Jr.; brothers, Russell Fowler and Bill Fowler; and grandson-in-law, Gary D. Ahner. Left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Karen Branch Kent and husband, Roger; Richard (Richie) Branch, Linda Ahner and Ronnie Davis; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Ian, and great-great grandson, Kaden; and special daughter-in-law that she loved like a daughter, Virginia Branch; and her special friends of almost 50 years, Tommy and Mary Condron of Ireland. The family would also like to thank caregivers Janet Vance, Macy Bowlin, and Marcy Sparks. Thank you for loving and caring for our grandmother. We want to thank numerous other special caregivers throughout the years that loved her. The family would like to add a special thank you to Brandi Ratcliff, MSN FNP-BC. We are so grateful for your compassion and kindness. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Jimmy Davis. Earnestine loved her country. She was an avid Republican. At the age of 97, during the COVID pandemic, she insisted on casting her vote in person to ensure her vote was counted.
