Dr. Stephen Michael Beene, 67, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021, at his home. A visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home at 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana, 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, followed by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Cemetery located at 5185 Swan Lake Road Spur, Bossier City, Louisiana, 71111. Officiating the service will be Dr. B.J. "Rocky" Maddox of Rose Park Baptist Church, Shreveport, Louisiana. Stephen was born in Kansas City, Kansas, on October 27, 1953, the son of the late Bob and Betty Beene, natives of Magnolia, Arkansas. He graduated from Crossett High School, in Crossett, Arkansas. He attended Arkansas State University, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Southern State College, in Magnolia, Arkansas, graduating with various diplomas and degrees. He later graduated from Louisiana State University Medical School in Internal Medicine, in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1989. Dr. Beene practiced medicine in Little Rock, Arkansas during his medical residency before practicing in Monroe, Louisiana for many years. He then moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas as a Hospitalist before moving to his current residence in Shreveport, Louisiana. He is predeceased by his parents, Bob and Betty Beene, and his wife, Karen Nolen Beene, of Monroe, Louisiana. He is survived by his daughters, Rebekah Willis and husband, Eric, of Bossier City, Louisiana, and Stephanie Beene, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; two grandchildren, Luke and Lydia Willis; sister, Patti Frost, of West Monroe, Louisiana; his beloved dog, Belle; and many loved and cherished family and friends. Dr. Beene was loved by his family and friends, known to be strong-willed, determined, brilliant, and highly intellectual. His patients\' care and wellbeing were what drove him in his professional career. All who knew him knew of his love, loyalty, and protection of his family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association P.O. Box 7023 Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
