Dr. Marjorie Cynthia Kittler passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at the age of 73.
Cynthia was born on January 7, 1947, in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was a graduate of St. Vincent's Academy in Shreveport; she then graduated from Northwestern University in Natchitoches, Louisiana with a bachelor's degree in science and a master's degree in science. In 1985, she earned her doctorate in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences from Texas A & M University in College Station, Texas. She taught in Laredo, Texas, and Gadsden, Alabama, prior to becoming an Assistant Professor in Biology at Grambling State University, from which she retired.
Cynthia bred and showed purebred dogs professionally under the Mardais kennel prefix. Several of her dogs attained national ranking status.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick Kittler and Marjorie Sill Kittler; her brother, Dr. Fred J. Kittler and her cousin, Elaine Forrest Petrick. She is survived by her niece, Dr. Karen Kittler Hunter; her nephew, Frederick Kittler, Jr.; cousins, Rosalie Thrillkill Bearden, Robert (Chuck) Forrest, Jr., Raymond Kittler; great-niece, Jessica L. Hunter and great-nephew, Brandon J. Kittler.
A graveside service honoring the life of Cynthia will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2020 at Forest Park Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Ave, Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Reverend Mimi McDowell of Noel United Methodist Church.
