A Memorial Service Celebrating the Life of Douglas “Doug” Vincent Mantia, 58, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Officiating the service will be Monsignor Rothell Price.

Doug was born July 23, 1964, in Dayton, Ohio, to Charles Salvador Mantia and Helen Louise Kanelis  Mantia. He passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Doug retired from the United States Air Force. He drove the Zamboni at the hockey games for many years and was known as “Dangerous Doug.” He was a very devoted youth hockey coach, mentored and coached many kids in the Ark-La-Tex, and was affectionately referred to as “Coachie.” Doug had many friends and extended family whom he loved dearly.  

Doug is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Sophie Quinn Mantia; aunt, Roseanne “DoDo” Spagnola; uncle, Barcelos “Buddy” Spagnola; father-in-law, Leroy Dove; brother-in-law, Jeff Dove; and auntie, Florann Kniffin. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Mantia of Bossier City, LA; sons, Douglas V. Mantia, Jr. and wife, Heather of Fletcher, N.C., Nicholas D. Mantia of Bossier City, LA; grandchildren, Eliana Louise Mantia and Mila Evelyn Rose Mantia of Fletcher, N.C.; sisters, Mary Jo Pilch and husband, Jeff of Allen, TX, Patricia Rabinowitz and husband, Scott of Columbus, OH; brothers, Chuck Mantia and wife, Peggy of Carrabelle, FL, John Mantia and Julie Gift of Dayton, OH, and Tony Mantia and wife, Michelle of Brookville, OH; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105, or Smile Train, www.smiletrain.org/.
