Douglas Horne, Sr., age 85, passed away on October 15, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him dearly and countless memories of a life well lived.
Douglas was a dependable and generous man whose warm personality made him easy to know and hard to forget. He had a strong sense of humor and a gift for making people laugh, often bringing joy and lightheartedness to any gathering. He made people feel welcome and was someone friends could turn to whenever they needed support. He never met a stranger, and his genuine kindness, quick wit, and cheerful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
Douglas worked as a foreman for Berg Mechanical before serving as the plumber for Caddo Parish. After retiring from Caddo Parish, he continued working for many years, for family and friends that needed him.
What he loved more than anything was spending time with his children and grandchildren, sharing stories, laughter, and his unmistakable sense of humor. Those moments were among his greatest joys, creating memories that will continue to bring comfort to those who loved him. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished and the many lives he touched along the way.
Douglas is survived by his brothers, Glen Horne and Gerald Horne and his wife, Alice; his children, Wayne Horne and his partner Sue Ellen Gallion, Robbie Horne, Melody “Missy” Burgess and her husband, Ronnie, and Tami White and her husband, Benji; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey Horne and Iola Horne; his brothers, Aubrey Horne and Bob Horne; and his sisters, Doris Purvis and Dorothy Lawrence.
Though his passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, his memory will live on through the lessons he taught, the kindness he showed, the friendships he made, and the family he cherished. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, welcoming nature, and unwavering devotion to the people who mattered most to him. The laughter he shared and the joy he brought to others will remain a treasured part of his legacy.
