Funeral services for Dottie Allen Garrett, 87, will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clark Rd. in Keithville, Louisiana at 2:00 p.m. A visitation will be held Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Pastor Thomas W. Patton. Dottie was born on February 4, 1935 to John Lester Allen and Ruby Anders Allen in Fisher, Louisiana and passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022 in Bossier City, Louisiana. Dottie was a resident of Benton, Louisiana and worked as a manager in the food service industry for Caddo Parish schools as well as serving as church hostess for First Baptist and St. Mark's. She grew up in Robeline, Louisiana. After graduation, she moved to Shreveport and worked at South Central Bell as a telephone operator. She met the love of her life while in Shreveport, and they were married on April 16, 1954. They enjoyed almost 58 years together. She enjoyed being involved in several church groups, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Dottie was a loving, Christian mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed working in her flowerbeds and traveling in the RV with her late husband, Ralph. Dottie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph Garrett, Jr.; and siblings, Ray Allen, Phillip Allen, Millie Allen Savell and Jerry Allen. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Patti Garrett Bergstrom and husband, Jon, and David Garrett; grandchildren, Holly Bain Free and husband, Doug, Jeremy Garrett and wife, Sandi, Jacob Bain and wife, Brooke; great-grandchildren, Haley Bain, Hannah Fentress, Emma Fentress, Kade Bain, Aubree Bain, Jordan Garrett, Audrey Garrett; and sister, Patsy Allen Teer. Honoring Dottie as pallbearers will be J.B. Allen, John Allen, Jimmy Allen, Dylan Huffman, Eric French and Doug Free. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Willis-Knighton Bossier for the wonderful care given to Dottie.
