A visitation honoring and celebrating the life of Dorothy Almon Thibodeaux, 90, will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. A private family graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2022  at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Keithville, Louisiana. Officiating the graveside service will be Brother Billy Crosby.

Dorothy was born March 7, 1932 to Eugene Almon and Myrtle Corley Almon and went home peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 8, 2022.

She was a graduate of Noble High School where she excelled in Basketball. After high school she attended business school in Shreveport and worked many years in the insurance business for Hardy Murray Insurance and retired from Jones, Mullins and Scarborough.

Dorothy was a member of Pinecroft Baptist Church for many years where she taught Preschool Sunday School for over 20 years and was an active member of WMU. For the past 36 years she was an active member of Summer Grove Baptist Church where she served on the tithing committee and bereavement committee.

One of her greatest joys was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy and Jake never missed a ballgame, church or school activity for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed her group of Bunko friends for many years. Mom and Dad also enjoyed attending many Korean Conflict Army reunions over the years. She was a faithful wife, Mom, grandmother and friend throughout the years.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister and her loving husband of 65 years Jake Thibodeaux. She is survived by son, Mike Thibodeaux and wife, Lisa; daughter, Lisa Montgomery and husband, David; grandchildren, Michael Acurio, Jr. and wife, Ashley, Amy Thibodeaux Roppolo and husband, Bryan, Adam Acurio and wife, Isabella and Emily Thibodeaux Holloway and husband, John; great-grandchildren, Ella Kate Acurio, Ava Greathouse, Giovanna Acurio, Braylen Acurio, Parker Acurio and Fallon Acurio; loving sister, Doris Owen; loving nephew, Richard Owen whose support and love was felt by his Aunt Dorothy and many extended family members.

Honoring Dorothy as pallbearers are Michael Acurio, Jr., Adam Acurio, Richard Owen, David Montgomery, Jr., Bryan Roppolo and John Holloway.

The family would like to express special thanks to Christus Hospice and Garden Park Nursing facility for their love, prayers, care and wonderful support they provided Mom and to Erica and Brenda, who lovingly cared for Mom.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Summer Grove Baptist Church, 8924 Jewella Ave., Shreveport, LA 71118.
