Funeral services for Dorothy Pickett Giddens, 92, will be held Tuesday, March 29, at 12:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Officiating the service will be Reverend Mike Hawkins. Interment will be at Grand Cane Cemetery in Grand Cane, Louisiana at 2:00 p.m. Mrs. Giddens, of Stonewall, entered eternal rest on Friday, March 25, 2022, at Christus Highland Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was a devoted Christian, wife, and mother. Mrs. Giddens graduated from Martin High School and married Jessie Lee "Cotton" Giddens on August 23, 1947. She worked at the paper mill in Jonesboro-Hodge for two years. In 1951, she worked at the blood bank at Charity Hospital for one year, then worked at the blood bank at Confederate Memorial until 1955 when her second child was born. In 1956, she became a nurse's aide for six months at Highland Hospital, then went to work as a nurse for Dr. Hall at Sunset Clinic for 39 years until her retirement in January of 1995. Mrs. Giddens moved from Shreveport to Grand Cane in 1977, and then to Stonewall in 2005. She was a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church in Stonewall. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Jesse Lee "Cotton" Giddens; son, Thomas David "Tommy" Giddens; parents, William David "Dave" Pickett and Hazel Mosley Pickett; brothers, William David Pickett, Jr., Dawson "Posh" Pickett and J. R. "Buddy" Pickett; sister, Nelvin Bryant; twin sister, Doris Bamburg and daughter-in-law, Wanda Stanley Giddens. She is survived by two sons, Harold Giddens and wife, Chadra of Texarkana, Arkansas and Ronnie Giddens and wife, Sybil of Allen, Texas; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Joe Pickett of Coushatta and sisters, Dinah Puckett of Bossier City and Betsy Bell of Bossier City. Honoring Dorothy as pallbearers will be Peyton Giddens, Stroud Giddens, Thad Giddens, Cole Richardson, Joe Windham and Joey Windham. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Fields, David Pickett, Joey Pickett and Mickey Pickett.
