Funeral services for Dorothy LaMerle Nesbett, 77, will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery, 8801 Mansfield Rd. in Shreveport. A visitation will be held Friday, November 12, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Brother Randall Johnson. Dorothy was born on May 26, 1944 in Logansport, Louisiana to Lester Leander Strong and Nora Lee Nunley Strong and passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 in Shreveport. Dorothy was the secretary for the Caddo Parish School Board for 30 years before retiring. She was currently the secretary at Countryside Baptist Church. She was married to Richard Nesbett for 57 wonderful years. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They brought her so much joy. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and aunt, Avis Elaine Baxter. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Randy Nesbett and girlfriend, Kelly, and Kevin Nesbett; grandchildren, Aaron Nesbett and girlfriend, Victoria; Harlee and Billy Malone, and Adam Nesbett; great-grandchildren, Jacob Malone, Haislee Malone, Liliana Nesbett, Oliver and Waylon Malone, Ella Rose Nesbett; and many friends. Honoring Dorothy as pallbearers will be Aaron Nesbett, Adam Nesbett, Billy Malone, Carl Lindsey, Paul Thomason and Homer Nesbett. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Bob Hays. The family would like to express special thanks to Julie of LifePath Hospice for the excellent care and compassion given to Dorothy during her illness.
