Dorothy Juanita Jones

Zwolle, LA-Dorothy Juanita Nugent Jones was born December 21, 1930 and went to be with the Lord on November 4, 2019 and was reunited with her husband and best friend of 70 plus years whom she missed dearly. She was 88 years and 11 months old. Dorothy was born in Pineville, Louisiana to Albert V. Nugent (deceased) and Geneva Taylor Nugent (deceased). She had two brothers, A. V. Nugent (deceased) and Jimmy Nugent (deceased) and one sister, Florence Nugent (deceased). Dorothy resided in Pineville with her family until the age of 13 when she and her youngest brother went to live at the Masonic Home in Alexandria until the age of 18 when she met Richard H. Jones, Jr. at Bolton High School and married the love of her life and best friend. She and Richard had such a special marriage, doing everything together. You never saw one without the other. They truly had such an example of a wonderful marriage. They began their life together living in Alexandria then moved to Pineville where they lived until they retired and moved to Toledo Bend. Dorothy and Richard were married for 69- and one-half years. They had two children, son Howard Lee Jones and wife Mollie and daughter, Sandra Faye VanHuis and husband Joseph. Four grandchildren, Anthony Jones and wife, Dani, Nathan Jones and wife, Brandy, Kristy Blalock, and Stephen Blalock and wife, Kristen; two step grandchildren, Jamie Bailey and Chad VanHuis and a total of 14 great grandchildren. She had numerous nieces and nephews which she loved as her own children. Dorothy worked at Security First National Bank in the bookkeeping department, proof department, teller, then became the head teller after which she retired with 20 plus years. She also worked in the Rapides Parish School System as an aide on a special education bus. She was always picked on by other people who couldn't tell her apart from the little Special Education children. She was always such a cut-up. Dorothy and Richard first attended Homewood Baptist Church in Alexandria then when they moved to Pineville, they became members of Trinity Baptist Church. There she sang in the choir for 30+ years. After retiring and moving to Toledo Bend, they became members of Aimwell Baptist Church. Where she sang in the choir and worked as Sunday School general secretary for many years as well as various other positions. Dorothy was known for her love for her family, her big heart, and her picking on people that she would do. You always knew if she gave you a hard time then she really loved you. She was also known for the statement Richard would tell her that was, "Dorothy, remember to watch your mouth!" Her children and grandchildren feel that since she was called home so fast and unexpectedly, that either Richard felt heaven was not heaven without her, so he needed her by his side like he always did or either that Richard told God that Dorothy was getting a little out of control and that God needed to bring her home so Richard could remind her to "watch her mouth." She was indeed one special person to everyone that knew her and especially to her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed, words can not express, and their will never be another Dorothy Jones. We feel she was just called home too early for all of us that are still here. But one day we will be reunited together in heaven where we will too be made complete with our Lord and Savior.
