Dorothy Mae Joiner

Dorothy Mae Joiner of Fruitvale, Texas went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 9, 2025. She was born May 11, 1936, in Lawhon, Louisiana.

She is preceded in death by parents Albert and Ethel Smith; sisters, Marjorie, La Verne, and Gloria; and husbands Marvin Joiner and David Hicks.

She is survived by daughters Debra Holifield and husband Otis, Denise Hicks, and son Darell Hicks and Marda. She is also survived by five grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church of Edgewood, Texas. After graduating from high school, she attended beauty school, became a hairstylist, and enjoyed making people look beautiful. She loved singing hymns, growing and arranging flowers, and visiting and entertaining friends. She taught children in Sunday School for many years. Dorothy and her first husband, David Hicks, owned and operated Arcadia Printing and Office Supplies.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 13, 2025, at Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana, with visitation at 9:00 am and services at 10:00 am. Bro. Jonathan Leach will officiate with burial to follow in Doyline Cemetery.
