A visitation for Dorothy Faye Hartman, 81, will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana.
Dorothy was born on June 23, 1944, to James and Jane Rodgers in Shreveport, Louisiana, and passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Dorothy was a woman who never met a stranger. Her lively spirit, warm smile, and genuine love for people made everyone feel welcome in her presence. She had a gift for connecting with others, and those who knew her loved her just as deeply as she loved them. Faith was an important part of her life, and she found great joy in attending church and being surrounded by her church family. She also loved crocheting, creating thoughtful, handmade gifts that she shared generously with the people she cared about. Always on the go, Dorothy lived her life with energy, purpose, and a heart full of kindness.
Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, Dorothy was raised in Plain Dealing, where her roots and values were shaped. She attended the Louisiana School of the Blind in Baton Rouge and proudly graduated with the Class of 1962, where she served as their valedictorian. Her life was defined by resilience, compassion, and a deep appreciation for the people around her. Dorothy’s legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the friendships she nurtured, and the love she gave so freely.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, Frank Rodgers; mother, Jane Rodgers; and brother, John Rodgers. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved sons, Frankie Miller and wife, Kerrie of Plain Dealing, Louisiana, and Joey Miller of Texas, along with five beloved grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home, in her name, P.O. Box 4196, Monroe, Louisiana 71211, or online at lbch.org.
