Dorothy Gayle Upshaw

Funeral services for Dorothy Gayle Upshaw, 70, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at The Pentecostals of Shreveport, 3001 Meriwether Rd., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. until service time. Officiating the service will be Pastor Kent Greer. Dorothy was born on April 6, 1951 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Golden Delaney Cox and Minnie Bell Cox and passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021. Dorothy was a resident of Shreveport. Her greatest joy in life was taking care of her family. She loved to cook and have everyone over to enjoy her cooking. She was a very devoted mother and grandmother. Dorothy had a real talent for decorating. She always had a beautiful, well-appointed home. She never met a stranger and was a joy to be around. She made everything in life seem better. She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. We will forever miss the matriarch of our family. Things will never be the same but we know she is at home with her Lord and Savior. She is preceded in death by her parents; and children, Sheila Upshaw and Delaney Upshaw. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Billy Upshaw, Sr.; children, Billy Upshaw, Jr. and wife, Karah, Jan Burney and husband, Ben, Amber Armstrong and husband, Aaron; grandchildren, Morgan, Anna, Noah Danielle Burney, Seth Webb, Chole and Baylie Armstrong; siblings, Ed Dubois, David Cox, Dena Lloyd, Joy Cannon and husband, Jerry, Edwina Havis and husband, Nathaniel and special family member, Cindy Upshaw; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank everyone that visited, called and prayed for Dorothy. It is greatly appreciated.
