Dorothy Marjorie Gamble

Greenwood, LA - Dorothy Marjorie Averitt Gamble was born on February 10, 1935 in Coushatta, La. and passed away December 25, 2019 in Greenwood, LA where she resided for 43 years. She was 84. Marjorie was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church. The last survivor of her generation, Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Raymond Gamble and by her sons, Gary Randall Gamble, Steve Brian Gamble and the son of her heart , William Smith; her parents, William C. and Emma Averitt; her sisters, Beatrice Averitt, Thelma Estelle Nichols, Ruby Mae Prough, Willie Mae Huffman and Francis Averitt; her brothers W.C. Averitt, Billy Ray Averitt and Douglas MacArthur Averitt. Marjorie is survived by her sons, Raymond Daniel Gamble and Donald Eugene Gamble (Pamela); grandchildren, Shannon Gamble, Misty Gamble-Riser (Derek), Diana Parkerson (James), and Lisa Cameron (Anthony Sr.); great-grandchildren, Damien, Dylan, Aubrey, Morgan, Julie, Libbey and Anthony Jr.; and by a host of nieces and nephews. Marjorie was a loving wife, mother, and Memaw. She most enjoyed her time spent with her family and especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family takes great comfort in knowing she is with our Lord and reunited with her beloved Raymond and her sons, Gary and Steve. Visitation will be held from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2019, at the Rose-Neath Southside Chapel, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, LA. Funeral services will be followed at 1:00 p.m. Reverend Mike Gamble will be officiating the service. Graveside services will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery, Hall Summit, Red River Parish, Louisiana. Honoring Mrs. Gamble as pallbearers will be James Parkerson, Anthony Cameron Sr., Derek Riser, Matt Lenser, John Heppler Sr. and Barry Gamble.
