Dorothey Jean McBride

Funeral service for Mrs. Dorothy Jean Rogers McBride will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia, with Bro. Spencer Lovitt officiating. Burial will follow at Tulip Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Dorothy was born on April 21, 1934, in Homer, Louisiana to M. C. Rogers and Annie Covington Rogers. She passed away at her home in Athens, Louisiana on March 16, 2024, with her loving family by her side.

Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where she was an active member, and secretary for many years. Dorothy was also highly active in her community, and loved working at the Mt. Olive Rodeo, and Mt. Olive Christian School Auction every March. She loved baking and catering, which she did for over 30 years. Dorothy even got out of a speeding ticket with her homemade cheese straws. Dorothy worked for almost 40 years at Homer Hospital as a Ward Clerk. She will be greatly missed by all those that knew her.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents M.C. and Annie Covington Rogers, husband Collier McBride, Sr., sister Fannie Allen, and brothers Curtis, Ernest, and Ray Rogers.

Left to cherish her memories are her son Collier (CA) McBride, Jr., granddaughters Jewella Newlen, and Kathy McBride Poston, sister Carolyn Williams, great grandsons Blake Newlen, and Trevor Poston, and by numerous other nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Honoring Dorothy as pallbearers will be Blake Newlen, Trevor Poston, Luke Smith, Len Gantt, Kennon McBride, Jr., and Terry Dobbins. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Gantt and Bill Rodgers.
