Doris Bossier Johnson was born October 20, 1931 at home in Oak Grove Community, Converse, LA and was a graduate of Oak Grove High School in 1948.
Doris went on to study Bible at Louisiana College in Pineville and graduated in 1953. She also attended McNeese University and Centenary College over the years as she pursued continuing education. During her college years, she served as a student missionary conducting Vacation Bible Schools and playing piano for revivals.
She was a treasured teacher, beginning her career in 1953 in DeQuincy, LA, and moved to Shreveport in 1955 after her wedding. There she taught at Riverside, Hollywood and finally Southern Hills Elementary from where she retired in 1994.
Doris was married to her beloved Jesse Hugh Johnson, also a teacher, for 54 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Ersell and Ione McPhearson Bossier; her brother, Thomas Ersell Bossier, Jr.; and her husband, Jesse Hugh Johnson. She is survived by her son, Daniel Hugh Johnson; her daughter-in-law Amy Johnson; and grandchildren, Lucy Evelyn Johnson and Elliot Daniel Johnson.
A graveside service will be held at Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport on December 13, 2018 at 10 a.m. John Harp of Brookwood Baptist Church, Doris' longtime church home, will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be sent to Brookwood Baptist Church.
