Doris Jean Pate Henderson

A memorial service for Doris Jean Pate Henderson, 96, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at the Worship Center North at Broadmoor Baptist Church, 4110 Youree Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Dr. John Sullivan and Dr. Larry Slay.

Doris was born on May 18, 1929 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Jessie and Fannie Pate and passed away Thursday, June 5, 2025 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

After graduating Fair Park High School, she went to work for the telephone company, International Harvester. She later earned her real estate license and opened her own real estate company, Doris Henderson Realty. She was married to James Willie Henderson for 58 years and was a member of Queensboro Baptist and Broadmoor Baptist Church. She had an infectious laugh. In her free time she enjoyed knitting baby hats and washcloths for Mexico. In her younger years, she participated in showing her beloved weenie dog.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Henderson and cousin, Raymond Simmons. Left to cherish her memory are her cousin, Charlie Simmons and his brother, Doug Simmons; her adopted daughter, Jean Ann Zelazny and her adopted grandchildren, Danielle Zelazny and Dominic Zelazny.
