Doris Elizabeth Cupp

Doris Elizabeth Cupp, 98, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 14, 2022. She was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, and her church.

Doris was born January 20, 1924, in Elgin, Texas to Ira Griffin and Jessie Caroline Stowers. She grew up in Waco, Texas and graduated from Waco High School. In addition to Waco, she has lived in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Alexandria, Louisiana, and has made her home in Shreveport, Louisiana for nearly 50 years.

She met her husband of 58 years, Byron Hendrix Cupp, at church and they married at age 19. They were blessed with three children- Donna Beth, Ronald Byron, and Charles Griffin. Doris was a mother and homemaker most of her life. She greatly loved her children and taught them how to love and grow in their Christian faith.

Doris accepted Jesus as her Savior when she was young and was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church for over 40 years. During that time, she taught children's Sunday School, worked in the nursery area, and in the Mother's Day Out Program.

She enjoyed doing crossword, cryptogram, and word search puzzles. She loved playing games and was an avid Scrabble player who easily won most matches. She had a great wit and wanted to be the perfect hostess. One could not leave her house without her giving them something to take with them. She was a loyal caregiver for several years to her husband, Byron as he battled Alzheimer's disease. She was the perfect example of how to put others first and care for those you love.

Doris is predeceased by her husband, Byron Hendrix Cupp; her two brothers, Floyd Stowers and Stanley Stowers; and great-granddaughter, Molly Caroline Joseph.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Beth Kidwell and husband, Jerry; sons, Ronald Byron Cupp and wife, Rae, and Charles Griffin Cupp and wife, Stacy; grandchildren, Angela Elizabeth Conlon and husband, Ryan, Amy Kathryn Hughen and husband, Drew, Abby Lynn Hall and husband, Austin, Katie Elizabeth Trahan and husband, Thom, Lori Renee Dugas and husband, Garon, Christopher Byron Cupp and wife, Lexie, Jennifer Rae Catha and husband, Matt, Meredith Anne Joseph and husband, David, Caroline Grace Cupp; and 16 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
