HOMER, LA: Funeral services were held for Mrs. Doris Jones Carey, 99, at Pleasure Point Baptist Church of Homer, LA, on Monday, June 24, 2019, at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Chuck Johnson, officiating. Interment followed at Arlington Cemetery in Homer, LA. The family received friends at the church from 10-11 A.M. Mrs. Carey was born July 24, 1919, in El Dorado, AR, to David A. and Annie Frances Cabaniss Jones. She went to be with her Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ, peacefully at her home on Friday, June 21, 2019. Mrs. Carey was a giving and caring person and a blessing to everyone she met. She was a "Proverbs 31" woman taking care of her family and friends. Mrs. Carey was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willie Clinton Carey; four sisters, Mary Edith Pigage, Francis "Doodle" Widmer, Nina Gates, and Herma Wisner. She is survived by her two sons, Buddy Carey of Homer, LA, and David Carey and wife Virginia of Galliano, LA; two daughters, Anita Carey of Homer, LA, and Mary Jane Smith and husband Gary of Homer, LA; a sister, Margie Boyd of Homer, LA; thirteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Michael Carey, Clinton Carey, Greg Smith, Chase Faullin, Jon Crumpler, and Carey Crumpler. In lieu of flowers honoring Mrs. Carey, her family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
