Converse, LA - A funeral service celebrating the life of Donnie Lum, 73, will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Kilpatrick's Rose-Neath Mansfield Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Dean Register. Interment will follow at Pollard Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at the chapel. Donnie was born on February 10, 1948 in Converse, Louisiana to Willard Alvin Lum and Syble Rose (Booker) Lum Smith and passed away Monday, October 18, 2021 at his home. Preceding him in death are his parents; brother, Charles Lum; sister, Jo Nell Campbell; brother-in-law, Leon Campbell; stepfather, Elzy Smith; mother-in-law, Lillie Parker English Sharp; and father-in-law, Bill English. He served on the Shreveport Fire Department from September 18, 1967 until his retirement date of September 30, 1995 where he retired as District Chief. While serving the city of Shreveport, Donnie also worked parttime for Bobcat Boats in Gloster for 22 years. He also worked for the State Fire Marshall's Office for 10 years where he also retired. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Billie English Lum of Converse, LA; daughters of Converse, LA, Freida Lum and Angie Lum; brother, Alvin Lum & wife, Barbara of Converse, LA; 2 grandsons, Braxton Hughes & wife, Amanda of Shelbyville, TX and Jared Lum & girlfriend, Taylor Hill of Converse, LA; 3 great grandchildren, Riley, Paisley, and Jase Hughes of Shelbyville, TX; special grandsons, Donta Phillips and Trenton Stutts; brothers-in-law, Donnie English and wife Betty of Shreveport, LA, and Randel English of Homer, LA; sisters-in-law, Dorothy English Weeks and husband David of Mansfield, LA, and Debbie English of Logansport, LA; adopted daughters, Chris Woolsey Sebastian and Miki Ariola Dyess; along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other family members. Honoring Donnie as pallbearers will be Braxton Hughes, Jared Lum, Dylan Campbell, Dylan Raybon, Donta Phillips, Colt English, Matt Weeks, and Trenton Stutts. His Honorary pallbearers will be The Shreveport Fire Department. The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Robert Hernandez and NP Laura Perkins for so many years of caring for and loving Donnie like your own. The family would also like to thank Superior Hospice, Elara Caring, Willis-Knighton Pierremont, DeSoto EMS, DeSoto Fire Districts 5 & 8, DeSoto Parish Sheriff\'s Office, and Deputy Coroner Billy Locke.
