Funeral services will be held for Mr. Donald Ray Williams, SR, age 82, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 405 E. 5th Street, Homer, LA, on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Henry Cemetery near Hico, LA. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1-2 p.m.
Mr. Don was born June 17, 1944, in Hico, LA, to Willie H. and Susan Young Williams. He entered into rest on September 7, 2026, in Pineville, LA. Mr. Don was one of five children and attended high school in Hico. Through-out his life, he worked as a truck driver, on an offshore oil rig, a laborer in construction, and eventually retired from LA DOTD. Mr. Don loved to travel and Branson was his favorite place to visit even after his wife Patsy had passed. He liked to hunt squirrel and deer as well fish to provide for his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; mother of his two children, Helen Heckford; wife, Patsy Ruth Geter Williams; one sister, Lenora Hoss; and three brothers, Melvin Williams, Willie Williams, and Clinton Williams.
He is survived by his son, Ray Williams and wife Gena of Pineville, LA; daughter, Karen Matthews and husband Thomas of West Monroe, LA; two grandsons, James Fletcher and John Fletcher; four great-grandchildren, Trinity Fletcher, Lilly Fletcher, James Fletcher, and Jude Fletcher; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Don’s family would like to express their gratitude to Compassion Hospice, Hilltop Nursing Home, and Dr. Posina along with all their staffs for the care and compassion shown him.
Pallbearers will be Tolby McDaniel, Noah McDaniel, Donaven McDaniel, Lance McDaniel, James McKenzie, and Bill Howell.
In lieu of flowers honoring Mr. Don, his family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
