A funeral service celebrating the life of Donald Ray Brinkley, 71, will be held at 1:00 PM, Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Coushatta, LA, with Bro. Olan McLaren officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Coushatta, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the funeral home.
Don was born on October 1, 1953, in Leesville, LA, to Melvin and Patsy Ruth Brinkley and passed July 15, 2025, at his residence in Coushatta, LA. He was manager at Almond Brothers Lumber Company for many years and an avid hunter and fisherman.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Howard Bamburg; brother, Darrell Brinkley and his wife. Left to cherish his memory are wife of 28 years, Thresa “Sissy” Brinkley and fur babies; sons, Donald R. Brinkley, II, Matthew Chase Brinkley, Jason Eric Adams (Alice), and Cody Dean Hood (Megan); daughters, Karen Brinkley (Rufus), Misti Adams (Donny), and Melanie Hutchins (Derek); sister, Melba White; brothers, Paul Brinkley and Butch Brinkley; mother-in-law, Hilda Butcher; sister-in-law, Lisa Bamburg; brother-in-law, Bubba Bamburg; grandchildren, Logan Crosby, Parker Crosby, Autumn Wafer, Ronnie Black, Summer Black, Kristen Eaves, Hope Jeter, Bethany Brinkley, Morgan Bourget, Destiny Adams, Camden Adams, Ambreigh Adams, Thea Brinkley, Lennox Brinkley, Wyatt Hood, Kherington Carr and Waylan Hood; eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Honoring Don as pallbearers will be Butch Brinkley, Donald Brinkley, II, Cody Hood, Derek Hutchins, John Mafouz, and Winn Almond. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Paul Brinkley, Matthew Brinkley, Sheriff Glen Edwards, and Will Almond.
The family would like to give special thanks to the people of the Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office, Red River Parish EMS, and Almond Brothers Lumber Company. Also, special thanks to Dale and Donna Hutchins, Justin and Melanie Campbell, and Greg and Elaine Moore.
