Don Russell Pourteau, Sr.

Don was born on February 2, 1944 in Fullerton, California to Alexander and Loretta Pourteau, and passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026 in Stonewall, Louisiana.

Don was the kind of man who left a mark on everything he touched, whether it was something he built with his hands or a moment he filled with laughter. He had a way of making people smile, often without even trying, and his humor is something that will live on in all of us who knew him. He was always tinkering, always creating, always finding a way to make something better than he found it, and that says a lot about the kind of person he was.

He worked hard, not for recognition, but because that's just who he was. Steady, dependable, and driven, he set an example that's hard to match. And more than anything, he was someone to admire not just for what he did, but for how he lived. The things he built may last for years, but the impact he had on the people around him will last even longer. He'll be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Don is preceded in death by his parents; and great-grandson, Noah Pourteau. Left to cherish his memory is his spouse, Linda Pourteau; sons, Don Pourteau, Jr. and wife, Dawn, and Michael S. Pourteau and wife, Anne; daughters, Michele Pourteau, and Elizabeth Pourteau Parnell and husband, Brad; stepson, Ken Fruge'; grandchildren, Adam Pourteau, Tyler Pourteau, Chris Jones, Ashley Jones Wright, Mike Pourteau, Jr., Johnathan Pourteau, Justin Pourteau, Peyton Alexander Pourteau, Jon Michael Parnell, Madelyn Parnell Collins, Emily Parnell, Matthew Fruge', Angela Fruge', Catherine Fruge', and Lisa Munroe; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Guyans; brother-in-law, Dean Jones; aunt, Shirley Freudenthal; uncle, Arthur Jordan; and numerous nieces and nephews; fur babies, Pee Wee, Abby, Cally Kitter, Tommy Dean, Meow Meow; and his feathered baby, Sweetie.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a memorial plant that can be planted permanently in the ground in honor of Don would be greatly appreciated.
