Dock Sampson Harris

Funeral services with military honors for Dock Sampson Harris, 86, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with Father Tim Hurd officiating. Interment will follow in NW LA Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Dock was born November 25, 1931 in Longleaf, LA to Daniel and Alberta Harris and went to be with the Lord on June 24, 2018 in Shreveport, LA. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, Army Air Force, and Army. He served 31 years as a volunteer at the Barksdale Pharmacy Program. He set up and designed the sign shop for traffic engineering in Shreveport and was the owner of Putt-Putt Golf Course for five years. He started Dock Harris Enterprise in 1971 and passed the business on to his youngest son, Joseph Harris. Dock was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are wife, Linda Louise Harris; children, Richard James Harris (Lou), Sammy Ray Harris (Sharon), Doyle Wayne Harris (Elizabeth), Donald Ray Harris (Sherry), Susan Diane Harris, and Joseph Christopher Harris (Linda); grandchildren, Tonya, Tisha, Angelica, Samuel, Darcy, Justin, Daniel, Amanda, Beverly, Brianna, Conner, Mikey, and Jackie; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Jeffrey Holt and Dr. James Munn.
