Funeral services for Dixie Lynne Smith Keeley, 90, will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana with a visitation at 1:00 p.m. until service time. Officiating the service will be Reverend Steve Caraway.
Dixie Lynne Smith Keeley, aged 90, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed into glory on Monday, July 12, 2021. Dixie was born on August 14, 1930 in Tallulah, Louisiana. Her parents were Joseph Clinton Smith, Sr. and Willie Cagle Smith, they preceded her in death, as did her siblings, Joseph Clinton Smith, Jr., William King Smith, Margaret Lorraine Loper, Bobbie Rachel Kincade, and her husband of 53 years, Lon S. Keeley.
Dixie was a graduate of C. E. Byrd High School and Louisiana Tech University, where she met her husband, Lon. They were both active in theater and Dixie had a lifelong love of opera and musicals. Dixie faithfully served the church as a member of the choir and in a variety of other capacities. She loved her family and served them tirelessly, remembering children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces with birthday cards and notes.
In addition to raising her family, Dixie served her community as a Cub Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader, and substitute teacher working with developmentally disabled children. She was a supportive and active partner with her husband in his professional successes.
She is survived by three sons and one daughter, Lon G. (Nancy) Keeley, W. Michael (Lisa) Keeley, William C. (Phongsri) Keeley, and Alison L. Rinehart; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and many more to come (Lord willing).
Dixie was a woman of many talents and skills. She filled the lives of those around her with love, fun, and the wonder and magic of life.
