Kay Yarbrough, 76, died Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Garden Park in Shreveport.
Diana Kay Yarbrough was born in El Dorado, Arkansas to the late J. W. and Elizabeth Yarbrough and is survived by her siblings, Karrell Dowling of Decatur, GA, John Yarbrough of Minden, LA, Edwin Yarbrough of Van Buren, AR, Karren “Beth” Smith of Hiawassee, GA and her many nephews and nieces: Debbie, Darrel, Lisa, Tracy, Jenifer, Cheryl, Van, Tessa, David, and Lindsay, a number of great-nephews and nieces, and a few great-greats.
Kay was preceded in death by her stepmom, Addie; siblings, Sue, Mary, Ronnie, Larry, and Marvin; and her longtime companion, Jim Robertson.
She graduated from Woodlawn High School and Shreveport-Draughon School of Business, then worked for Centenary College for several years before relocating to Atlanta, GA, for the next twenty-five years. She worked for Crown Central Petroleum for twenty years before returning to Louisiana to care for her father during his last few years. After his passing, she began a new career in real estate.
Kay enjoyed socializing, traveling throughout the United States, and supporting her favorite sports teams – the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. One special joy of her life was her swimming pool, where she loved entertaining friends, family, and co-workers. She was loved by many for her independent spirit, her sense of humor, and her favorite dessert, “chocolate delight.”
The family would like to thank the staff at Garden Park for the care they provided, especially for those who engaged in the feisty banter that Kay would originate.
A memorial service for Kay Yarbrough will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, LA 71111. Visitation at 10:00 a.m. Service at 11:30 a.m. Officiating the service will be Murray Tyman. A live stream will be available.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you take a moment to reflect on a special time that you shared with Kay and remember her wit, her sassy attitude, and her love of friends and family.
