A graveside service honoring the life of Dennis Dean Hanson will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clark Road, Keithville, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Jerry Kennedy. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana.
Dennis Dean Hanson was born March 28, 1944 in Waterloo, Iowa to Glen and Delores Hanson and passed away peacefully, Saturday, August 28, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Dennis retired from the United States Army as a 1
st Sergeant after 24 years of service. He proudly served his country as a drill sergeant, a paratrooper with the 101
st Airborne Division, a combat engineer, a tank commander and was a member of the Army Sharpshooter Team. After serving in the Army, Dennis worked for John Deer Waterloo Tractor Works, where he was a member of the John Deere Bowling Team and retired after 34 years. He was a member of the American Legion and The Forty & Eight, an honor society for American Veterans, where he was currently Chef de Train and served in many other capacities. Dennis and his wife, Robyn, enjoyed traveling to many places. Their most memorable trip was to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico where they made many friends singing Karaoke and taking tours together. Dennis and Robyn were most always seen together, in anything they did. In his free time, Dennis spent his time on the golf course.
He is preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Robyn Hanson; daughter, Denise Bertch and husband, Tracy; sons, Dennis Hanson, Jr. and Joshua Jones and wife, Kim; sister, Northaglee Arriola and husband, Jim; brothers, Joel Hanson and wife, Vicki, Bruce Hanson and wife, Tina, and Steve Hanson and wife, Jan, David Hanson and wife, Sandy; brother-in-law, Randy Peterson; grandchildren, Michael Jones, MacKenzie Jones, Max Jones, Morgan Jones, Sam Jones, and Kira Bertch; and 7 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to the family to help with expenses.
