A graveside services will be held for Mr. Dennis Jay “Papa Den-Den” Dance, age 71, at Salem Cemetery in Athens, LA, on Monday, October 31, 2022, at 2:00 p.m.
Dennis was born in Homer, LA, on November 22, 1950, to Jay W. and Dorothy V. Chandler Dance. He entered into rest on Friday, October 28, 2022, in Shreveport, LA. Dennis was a very talented mechanic who worked on anything with an engine and the bigger the better. He loved to plant and always had a garden of turnip greens and all kinds of squash that he worked his grandson, Daniel. Dennis was a simple kind of guy who enjoyed the simple things in life. He was always joking and making people laugh. Dennis was lovingly called “Papa Den-Den” by his grand’s and great-grand’s.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jane Dance Dillon; brother, Eddy Wayne Dance; and great-grandson, Liam Scott Dance.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 21 years, Mary Denise Harris Dance; three sons, John Gott and wife Hannah of Houston, TX, Sam Dance of Shreveport, LA, and Allen Cherry and wife Mindy of Athens, LA; four daughters, Stacy Robinson and husband David of Heflin, LA, Shannon Fowler and husband Eric of Ringgold, LA, Shelly Dance of Ringgold, LA, and Melinda Woods and husband Randy of Minden, LA; two sisters, Janet Dobbins and husband Barry of Minden, LA, and Janelle Turner of Nashville, TN; fifteen grandchildren, John Cherry and wife Hailey, Daniel Smith and fiancé Cassidy, Maranda Woods, Robbie Robinson, Mathew Robinson and wife Bridget, Laura Robinson, Mckayla Cherry, Levi Dance, Alexis Dance, Claylen Fowler, Braylen Fowler, Max Gott, Micah Robinson, Kelly Booth, and Angelina Dance; thirteen grand-grandchildren, Cason Cherry, Anakyn Cherry, Cameron Robinson , Summer Robinson, Michael Asher Robinson, Ryen Owen Robinson, Addison Robinson, Elsie Robinson, Audrie Dance, Ryder Alsup, Auttumn Dance, and Salem Roberts; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Allen Cherry, John Cherry, Randy Woods, Daniel Smith, Levi Dance, Robbie Robinson, and Mathew Robinson.
