Dee Camp

Funeral services will be held for Dee Martindale Camp, age 79, at Calvary Baptist Church in Homer, LA, on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Perry Anderson, officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery in Homer, LA. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 5-7 pm. Dee was born December 14, 1942, in Venice, CA, to Kenneth and Helen Stewart Martindale. She entered into rest on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, in Homer, LA. Dee was over the canteen at Wade Correction Facility where she worked as a Corrections Officer for over twelve years. She loved to hunt especially squirrel hunting. Dee really enjoyed her horses and would have "Play Days" where she and her sons would go to Rodeo's which they called "Show-deos." She was a great cook and made the best gumbo. The holidays were important to Dee, because the family could get together and to make memories. She loved to read and exchange books with her daughters-in- law. Dee was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kenny Blackwell; a sister, Lois Martindale; and brother, Ronnie Martindale. She is survived by her three sons, John David Blackwell and wife Hong TT of Homer, Jody Wayne Blackwell and wife Janet of Arcadia, and Billy Jo Camp of Homer; a sister, Mary Ann Josting of Bossier City, LA; five grandchildren, David Allen Hunter, Chad Blackwell, Logan Blackwell and wife Lauren, Brock Blackwell and Caleb Camp; two great-grandchildren, John David and Bentley; along with a niece, four nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers will be Logan Blackwell, Brock Blackwell, David Allen Hunter, Chad Blackwell, and Caleb Camp. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Martindale and Rhett Josting. In lieu of flowers honoring Dee, her family suggests memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 1993 Hwy 3062, Homer, LA.
