Memorial services for Deborah Dawn Stephenson Huggs, 70, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Rose-Neath Southside with a visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Deborah was born January 1, 1949 in Shreveport, LA and passed away March 2, 2019 in Shreveport, LA. She worked for Este Lauder, Cook Yancey King and Galloway, La Bayou Oil Corp., Huggs Inc., Shreveport Data Systems, Crystal Oil Co. and Pennzoil Producing Co.
Deborah loved photography, animals, watching cooking shows, and experimenting with new dishes on her family. She was an avid historian, especially regarding the McLeod history. She was very politically minded, enjoying heated debates with others. She loved people and was excited to discover another line of our family and be able to meet them. Deborah traveled abroad and was looking forward to a trip to Scotland to visit our ancestral homeland. She was a loving sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, and friend. Along with being very giving, Deborah loved getting together with family and friends to eat and play cards. She surrounded herself with color and whimsy from around the world. We will really miss her laugh, whit, cooking, and her creative way of playing cards taught to her by her Aunt "Queen" Esther.
Her new home that was just completed was never meant to be, for now she lives in a mansion with our Heavenly Father.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William T. and Maudie McLeod Stephenson; her brother, Robert Grady Stephenson; and sister-in-law, Pauline Stephenson. She was loved and will be dearly missed by her brother, Barry Stephenson; her sisters, Beth Coble and husband Steve, Louise Lewis and husband Bill; along with many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Providence House, or to a local animal shelter in her name.
A very special thank you to her oncologist, Dr. Anil Veluvolu and the staff at the Willis-Knighton Cancer Center, as well as to the excellent nursing staff at Willis-Knighton North, 4th floor. They made this journey much easier for her and her family.
She lived by the McLeod family motto, "Hold fast."
