Deborah Gunter

Funeral services for Deborah (Debbie) Russell Gunter, 67, of Many, Louisiana, will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethsadia Baptist Church with Bro. Hulen Warren and Rev. Jim Manning officiating. Burial will follow in the Bayou Scie Cemetery in Zwolle, Louisiana. Friends and family are welcome to begin Debbie's celebration of life at Visitation on Monday, May 23, 2022, at 10:30 at Bethsadia Baptist Church, Many, Louisiana. Debbie was born on October 5, 1954 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 21, 2022 in Many, Louisiana. Debbie was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, friend and a DeeDee to many. Debbie was also a local business owner - she was proprietor and jeweler of Russell's Jewelry, where she worked for more than 50 years. Her creativity did not end with her career. In her spare time, she was an avid quilter with the Sew Crafty Quilters, loved to bake and decorate cakes, and find (and possibly finish) a new craft project. Debbie loved nothing more than to share time with friends and family. Debbie never met a stranger or a hobby she didn't like. She was always ready for a cup of flavored coffee and a funny story. While Debbie did love her friends and family and loved to laugh, she would charge you a $5 fine for whining. Debbie's vitality and humor will be sorely missed, but our family is comforted knowing she is square dancing with the angels. Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Tilmon Russell. She is survived by Mike Gunter; mother, Juanita Russell; brother, Stanley Russell and wife Mary Anne; son, William Russell Gunter and wife Leah. Debbie was the proud DeeDee to her grandchildren, Ryder and Rylee 'Flower Gunter of Many, LA; three nieces, (Salinda, Susan and Sarah); and host of friends who were family and family who were friends. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Ryder Gunter, Tom Skidmore, Christopher Barnard, Cade Dillard, Rusty Rains, and Orrin Rains. Honorary Pallbearers are Jay Gauthier, Roger Webb, Eddie Cates, Adam Barnard, Chad Rains, Trey Strickland, and Caleb Dillard. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bayou Scie Cemetery Fund, Bethsadia Baptist Church, or to The Sabine Council on Aging.
