Davis Harold Wiggins 11-23-38 – 10-23-26, age 87

Davis Harold Wiggins, 87, of Minden Louisiana, passed away on Oct 23. He was a loving father and grandfather, and he was newly a great-great-grandfather at the time of his passing.

Davis served his community as a Minden police officer and later as a preacher. Driven by a desire to share his faith, he always carried a small New Testament in his pocket, and he became known as the “Pistol Packing Preacher.” He worked as a radio DJ on a local station, where he also preached, and he visited the homebound and held services in local nursing homes.

In his later years, he was known for praying for his family and friends and for loving to share his testimony with anyone who would listen. He loved people, and he spent his life serving them.

Davis is survived by his sons, Davis Wiggins II (Monica), James Wiggins, Michael Wiggins (Amanda), and Jeffery Wiggins (Tanya); his daughter-in-law, Jeanne Wiggins; his 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and his 2 great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen Slagle Wiggins; his son, George Glenn Wiggins; his parents, George Allen and Mildred Williams Wiggins; and his brothers, Huey Lee, James Ray, and Vernon Wiggins.
